Livelihood of millions of people of India depends on agriculture which by and large, influenced by locally available natural resources.

In Kachchh, agriculture happens to be the main source of subsistence for the majority of people. According to the 2011 Census, 37.34 percent of the total working population of the district was engaged in agriculture.

The key function of the Department are

• Implementation of different schems for agriculture by central / state sponsored
• Promotion / Education and expansion activities of modern technology
• Report of the cultivation and production of the district
• Arrangmenet and Supervision for expermients of crop harvesting
• Collection of soil and water samples and send for analysis
• Preperation and distribution of Soil HealthCard
• Provide accidental death insurance scheme to Farmers
• Report and monitor rain and weather information and to report crop disesase related information
• Farmers Training and implementation of the project
